Contributor Exclusive Agreement (CLA)

To clearly define the rights and obligations for contributions to openITCOCKPIT, we use a Contributor License Agreement (CLA). Our CLA is based on the Fiduciary License Agreement (FLA) by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE). The FLA was created to centralize rights for Free Software and ensure it remains free, while protecting the moral rights of contributors.

Why a CLA and the FLA?

A CLA ensures that the project can continue as Free Software and that all contributions are under a unified license. The FLA protects both the project and contributors from legal uncertainties and misuse.

Process with CLA Assistant:

We use cla-assistant.io by SAP SE for signing and managing the CLA. The process is simple and handled directly via GitHub when you open your first pull request.

Difference between CCLA and ICLA:

ICLA (Individual Contributor License Agreement): Signed by individuals contributing in their own name.

CCLA (Corporate Contributor License Agreement): Signed by companies when contributions are made as part of employment or on behalf of a company.
